Austin is surrounded by the hill country where you see hills, open fields and running rivers. You can hike, camp, swim, float, fish, hunt, bike, picnic and explore.

Let’s say you want to experience some of those things but don’t want to go full naked and afraid. Then head out to McKinney Roughs Nature Park where you can enjoy the outdoors but don’t need to be too extreme.

They offer great hiking and walking by the Colorado river views. Shaded picnic areas.

It can get hot in Texas so always bring the necessary essentials like sunblock, water, shades, a cowboy hat, breathable clothes and bug repellent.

If you want to get adventurous then head on over to Zip Lost Pines (located in the park) and enjoy all the views McKinney Roughs Nature Park has to offer from a zip line tour.
